Thank you to all parents/guardians who joined us for our French Immersion Parent Information Night on Tuesday, November 23 at 7:00 p.m. via Google Meet. All students interested in the French Immersion Program at St. John XXIII must apply online by completing and submitting the YCDSB French Immersion online application form at www.ycdsb.ca by January 21, 2022. If you are experiencing any difficulty accessing the online application, please contact Luisa Coquim at luisa.coquim@ycdsb.ca. French Immersion programs are designed to provide non-francophone children with a high degree of proficiency in the French language. Students currently in Senior Kindergarten at St. John XXIII and siblings of students in French Immersion Program must also apply online to indicate interest. Following January 21, 2022, applications received by that date will be prioritized as follows:
- Siblings of students presently in the French Immersion program;
- Students within the school’s French Immersion boundary;
- Students outside of the French Immersion boundary but within York Region;
- Students from outside York Region.
If the number of applications exceeds the number of available openings, a public lottery process will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. via Google Meet on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Approved applicants will be notified by the school by Friday, February 4, 2022. Parents/Guardians must indicate acceptance of placement by completing required forms no later than Friday, February 11, 2022. Students who apply following January 21, 2022 will be placed on the bottom of each tier of the lottery waitlist, if one is needed. All applications after January 21, 2022 will be accepted at the home schools.
