At St. John XXIII CES we are extremely proud of all of our students as we see them grow in their faith. We teach the mindset of “What would Jesus do?” and stress the importance of living Catholic values not only at school but in various settings of their life.
Today, we would like to recognize Larysa, one of our students in intermediate. We received a phone call from Evra Trought-Pitters, a school teacher at public school in Toronto. She took time out of her busy schedule to share how impressed she was with one of our students.
Ms. Trought-Pitters was in a hurry and did not realize that she had her purse open facing downward. She did not notice that a large sum of money fell from her purse. Larysa, an intermediate student at St. John XXIII CES, began running toward her trying to gain her attention. When she succeeded, Larysa kindly returned all the money to the owner. Ms. Trought-Pitters was so impressed that she took time to personally phone me and compliment me on: our students, our Catholic teachings, and specifically on Larysa’s actions. Ms. Trought-Pitters stated, “not many young people would have taken the time to run after someone and return this large amount of money. This speaks volumes of the character of the students in your school and of your teaching of the Catholic virtues and values. It is very apparent that your students have been taught the mindset of ‘What would Jesus do’ and actually do it as well.” She further stated that she thought in today’s society, she didn’t expect this and was pleasantly surprised.
We thank Ms. Trought-Pitters for contacting me and allowing us to celebrate Larysa, whom I immediately recognised on the P.A. and awarded her with the “Caught you being good” award! Congratulations Larysa!
