Phase 2: Communication to Parents

Hello SJXXIII Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

I hope this message finds you all safe and healthy. My staff has been working very hard to respond to the challenge of continuing to provide quality education to our students from home.

On Monday, April 6th, students will be asked to log on to their Google Classroom as they will engage in teacher prepared lessons and activities from this Google App for Education. Please review the heading “Student Acceptable Use” in the attached document entitled,  “Technology Consent Form”. At this time, the document is only for review and reference; please do not sign and send back.

However, if you still have not initially registered your child(ren) into their Google accounts, please do so before Monday. The unique Username and Password have been communicated to families through your child’s teacher already.

We know that this new technology may seem overwhelming for some families, but please be reassured that we are here to support you and your child(ren). If you have any problems or difficulties, do not hesitate to let the teachers know.

As an introduction to Distance Learning, YCDSB has prepared the following Family Guide:  Distance Learning Plan – Parents/Guardians which should answer some of your questions.

For families who do not have access to Wifi or do not have the technology necessary for distance education, please note that at this time, the Board is in the process of finalizing a Plan of Action on the delivery of the technology (SEA equipment, Chromebooks or/and iPads).  Families will be notified once the next steps have been confirmed.

We are looking forward to providing the best education for our students in partnership with our families. If you have any questions regarding Distance Learning, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

With the start of Holy Week commencing, let us pray:

Lord God,

I give you thanks, for you are good, and your mercy is endless. Here I stand, at the start of this Holy Week, this week in which your church remembers Jesus’ passion and death, and I am distracted by many things. Turn my eyes now to the One who comes in your name. The one who opens the gates of righteousness. The one who answers when we call. I bless you, Lord, for shining your light upon me and for sending your son to us, in human frailty. To walk the road we walk. Open my eyes that I may see him coming. And may praise him with a pure heart. And may walk in the way of his suffering. And share also in his resurrection. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

Please take care of yourselves!

Mr. C. D’Agostini, Principal
