Dear Parents / Guardians:
I wish to thank the Parents/Guardians who attended the Parent/Guardian Information Session on January 16, 2025 at 7:00 pm at our school to view the proposed Standardized Dress Code options for our school.
I wish to communicate that the Standardized Dress Code options include:
- The St. John XXIII Catholic School Standardized Dress Code shall be worn to school each day
- All articles of clothing shall be solid colours, as specified below
- Clothing shall be free of any writing, logos or pictures
- Bottoms shall not include jeans or sheer leggings/ yoga pants
- As per board policy, St. John XXIII Spirit Wear items will be allowed as part of the Dress Code from JK·Gr.8
- Civvies Day will be held once a month in support of ShareLife
TOPS:
❖ Colours: NAVY, WHITE, GREY, or BLACK SOLID COLOURS
- Long or short-sleeved tops eg. Golf Shirts, polo shirts, t-shirt
- Sweaters/ layering pieces and spirit wear need to be the uniform colours
- NOTE: No spaghetti strap or sleeveless tops with straps less than 3 finger-width wide.
- NOT PERMITTED: SHIRTS THAT EXPOSE THE MIDRIFF, JEANS, PATTERNS, and LARGE/MEDIUM LOGOS
BOTTOMS:
❖ Colours: NAVY, BLACK, GREY SOLID COLOURS
- Cargo pants, Capris, Track Pants, Corduroy Pants, Bermuda Walking Shorts, Yoga Pants and Leggings only with Appropriate Hip Length Tops orTunics
- NOTE: Shorts and skirts are to be no shorter than just above the knee
- Also permitted are: skorts, (skirts with shorts), golf shirt dresses
- However, logos that are roughly the size of a loonie/toonie in size are permitted i.e. brand name or symbol.

In order to move forward with this process each family eligible to vote (grades JK-Grade 7) is receiving a numbered Ballot with this letter.
Please indicate your preference by marking only one “x” on the ballot, and return to the school no later than Friday, February 14, 2025.
Ballots not returned will be considered an affirmative vote for the continued implementation of the school’s current Appropriate Dress Code.
A letter informing Parents/Guardians of the outcome of the ballot will go home after all votes are counted.
